Technology has brought in a lot of things just as it is taking a lot more away. Some years ago we had things like VHS, Walkman, and a lot of other things that we believed were the future. Surprisingly enough or not so, they are all now lost thanks to technology.
In the same vein, many other things that we see and even use today would disappear in the notebook distant future. The good news is that most of them would be replaced by other things more functional and convenient.
Here are some of the things that would disappear:
1. Phone Charger
Phone chargers and in fact the manner of charging things as we do today may be among the earliest things to get lost in no time. This doesn’t mean that the next phones and other gadgets to be designed would be able to use no charge. On the contrary, they would need charge, but the charge would be supplied through radio waves.
What this means is that without even taking your phone out of your pocket, you can have it charged. More so, because of this also, things like power banks may get lost on the way. Your phone will have a special antenna attached to it that will receive radio frequency and convert it to energy that can work with it.
2. Physical wallet
Obviously, we are gradually heading cashless since we don’t need cash to make our transactions. As a result of this, our wallets are becoming useless. Well, but what of our identity cards? You may not even need those again as using your biometrics, your identity can easily be confirmed.
For other things like your debit and credit cards, you still need them now for a lot of things including payment systems including the Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay. Soon, however, you may only need a wearable device or something else to make payments and purchases.
3. Car Mirrors
The use of mirrors in cars is so that you can see the cars coming behind you, as well as the distance and other things. This is also becoming the victim of technological change as we are beginning to see CCTV systems coming with cars to help you see not just what is behind, but also at the sides.
These camera-and-display setups are very important most especially because they give more details than your regular mirror, including the speed and distance of the car behind. They can also show you blind spots. The problem, though, is that they can be very distracting.
They include BMW’s Surround View and Lexus’ Side Monitor.
4. Keys
Lock and keys have served humans faithfully for many years. They have been among some of the most faithful protectors we have come to know, but now technology is also doing off with them. What will take the place of the lock and keys is the biometric security system.
With that, you will be able to lock and open your doors and safe using your fingerprints or even your iris. There are some that may require certain passwords, but already the fingerprint securities are becoming popular.
5. CDs and DVD players
When it was time for VHS to finally bow out, we started seeing CDS and later DVDs. Now, those too are gradually being wiped out as online streaming services are becoming very popular. Most musicians are now realizing that the sale of physical albums does not yield them as much as it used to, as such they have taken to the internet to sell their songs and albums.
More so, with movies, platforms such as Netflix are coming to change the way it is forever. There are also platforms like YouTube that as well provide streaming services.
6. Hard Drives
For anyone following the development of computers, you will now realize that there are computers that are being designed with very small memory space only enough to get the computer running. This is because the storage of file is gradually being shifted to cloud servers.
In essence, what this means is that technology is making it needless for you to store any file or files on your computer because of the inconvenience of not being able to access them anywhere. With this new technology, you will be able to access your files and documents anywhere at any time.
7. Remote control
There are many people that are still locked up in the wonderment as regards how remote controls came by. While they remain there, the devices are soon getting lost forever. This is thanks to voice recognition technology that allows you to speak commands directly to gadgets including TV and everything else that makes use of a remote control.
So far, the voice-activated UIs that would come t take over from the remotes have improved significantly over the years, and they are expected to even keep getting better.
8. Delivery People
Another thing that may likely give way in the coming years is delivery people. In their place, you will have drones that would deliver your pizza and other robots that would be designed for the same purpose. Already Amazon has started using some
9. Newspapers and Magazines
It is rather very surprising how newspapers and magazines have still managed to survive thus far, but then, their time will definitely come. Newspapers are also going to get lost because with the internet, almost every major newspaper and magazine has gone online to produce contents.

By the way, people right now are more interested in instantaneous news that would be backed up by videos and allow them to comment and share their opinions. Newspapers have failed in all these, hence technology will replace it.
10. Headphones with cords
Headphones may remain for a long time, but what will be lost is the cord that comes with them. Many companies are now designing headphones that are not just multifunctional, but also without cords. Bluetooth is going to substitute cords.
11. Queues
Ques in most places are among the things that would disappear soon. This is because transactions, which is the main reason why people queue up will be done online through the use of apps. Interestingly, instead of going to the stores, many people would make orders and have things delivered to them.
Others
There are many other things that would follow these in getting lost. While it may not be as fast in the developing countries, it will definitely get there. For example, when was the last time you picked up a dictionary to check certain words, pronunciations, synonyms, antonyms, or any other things. That is it tell you that just as the internet is wiping off dictionaries from the shelf, it will do the same with many other things including the Television as we know it today, the radio, and a whole lot more.
